Poetry Slam is the competitive art of performance poetry. It puts dual emphasis on writing and performance, encouraging poets to focus on what they are saying and how they are saying it. Teenagers are encouraged to pick up their pens to write original poems and present them with passion, intelligence, creativity, honesty and power. The poetry slam is an open stage giving budding young poets a platform to share their work. It allows people from varied backgrounds to find their own voices and to engage with issues they had earlier felt powerless about.
The Poetry Slam Contest is open to school and college students between the ages of 14 to 18 and 19 to 23 years. We request you to kindly nominate a maximum of 4 students from your institution to participate. There can be 4 students for the English category, and 4 students for the Tamil category.
